SCARCE TEN GAUGE W. AND C. SCOTT MONTE CARLO B WATER-FOWLER. W & C SCOTT & SON MONTE CARLO B WATER-FOWLER 61380 10 BORE MODERN (1899) Cal. 10 Bore. 2-7/8" Chambers. 30" Dovetailed steel bbls with broad, flat, matted rib having extension engraved "SCOTT''S IMPROVED BOLT" are engraved with makers name, grade, and address on tops. Bbl flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 1-1/2 oz of shot. Bottoms of bbls are stamped "CHOKE" and with SN. Robust case hardened square-backed sidelock action features square crossbolt third fastener, automatic safety (SAFE engraved), Scott''s vented strikers, slightly rounded action bar, and double triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved with 70% coverage medium scroll. Scroll surrounds vignettes of flying pigeons on lockplates, which are also engraved "W & C SCOTT & SON." Blued top lever and trigger guard are also scroll engraved. SN and Scott castle logo are on trigger guard tang which extends to composition grip cap. Streaked and lightly figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14" over orig ribbed horn buttplate. Stock features drop points, flat top point pattern checkering with beaded borders at grip. A vacant silver oval is on toe line. Matching short splinter forend has Scott''s long tip down lever release. Bore diameter: left -.775, right -.776. Bore restrictions: left -.035 (full), right -.035 (full). Wall thickness: left -.042, right -.039. Drop at heel: 3-1/8", drop at comb: 1-5/8". Weight: 9 lbs 7 oz. LOP: 14". CONDITION: Very fine, as partially refinished. Bbls retain nearly all of a satin rust re-blue, engraving slightly softened. Action and lockplates retain 50 - 60% orig case hardening color, which is quite vivid in spots. Left lockplate retains perhaps 85%. Top lever and trigger guard retain most of their orig blue. Stocks retain most of their orig oil finish with numerous light marks and scratches from normal use, checkering slightly worn and dirty. Bores are excellent, shiny, with a hint of light frosting.
