RARE JOHN WARREN ENGRAVED SMITH AND WESSON TRIPLELOCK DA REVOLVER WITH GOLD.SMTH & WESSONTRIPLELOCK1068244 SPLMODERN; C&R; IVORYCal. 44 Spcl. Blue finish with 6-1/2" bbl, integral half-moon front sight with fixed rear sight in top strap. Mounted with extraordinarily carved 2-pc "certifiable pre-ban ivory" grips that have Smith & Wesson silver medallions and are signed on the inside "John Warren" (the engraver). This revolver is extraordinarily engraved with incredible fine, intertwined foliate arabesque patterns with extremely fine pearled and shaded background. Engraving covers about 90% of the entire revolver surface. Left rear side of frame has an extremely well defined, with high detail the figure of a raised gold stooping bald eagle with fine yellow & rose gold wire inlay above the grip area. Right side, on the side plate is inlaid with a raised platinum polar bear in great detail standing on an ice floe surrounded by oval, extremely fine gold wire inlays. The area above the right grip has matching gold wire inlay. Center front flats of the frame & crane are inlaid in very fine gold wire designs. Left side of bbl has the Cal. marking inlaid in yellow gold surrounded by a fine, wire border. Right side of bbl has the Smith & Wesson name inlaid in yellow gold with fine wire border. Root of the bbl and muzzle end are inlaid with 2 fine lines in rose gold. Bottom front of frame, trigger-bow, backstrap & buttstrap are inlaid in 2-color gold geometric designs. SN on the buttstrap is also inlaid in gold. Bottom right front side of the frame is engraved with the engravers name "JOHN WARREN". Screw heads on right side of frame are all engraved. This revolver has some of the highest quality engraving examined by this cataloger. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus, all matching except grips which are unnumbered. Overall retains virtually all of its fine custom blue finish, appears to be unfired since engraving. Hammer & trigger retain virtually all of their factory case colors. Grips are sound and show a fine, mellow ivory patina. Mechanics are crisp. Brilliant shiny bore. 49296-2 JR (4,500-6,500)
