Engine turned bbl flats are engraved with SN and "6". Small Flues action with SN, grade, and gauge engraved on water table, features automatic safety and checkered gold-plated triggers. "Ithaca Gun Co" is engraved above each scene. Bottom front of action has engraved scene of grouse. Trigger plate has relief engraved perched pigeon in circular vignette. A pair of quail are on trigger guard bow. SN is on tang. Nicely crotch figured American walnut straight grip buttstock measures 13-7/8" over orig engraved skeleton steel buttplate. Also a copy of the original Ithaca ledger page for this gun. CONDITION: Excellent, as found. Bbls retain 90 - 95% orig blue, with a number of light handling marks and scratches. Damascening on water table and lumps has some stains. Action retains most of its orig case hardening color, percentage difficult to ascertain because of engraving. Turning to gray on bottom from normal handling wear. Top lever retains about 70% of its orig blue. Trigger guard retains about 20% of its orig blue. Gold of triggers shows some finger wear, but is over 80%. Stocks retain nearly all of their orig finish with numerous light marks and one or two a bit deeper. Checkering lightly worn. Skeleton buttplate has turned brown. Central plug covering lightening recess has been pushed in about 1/16". Bores are excellent with some rough areas of very light pitting, and a few minor dents, worst of which is 8" back from muzzle on left bbl. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. The ideal quail gun, it''s a wonder that this fast little gun did not see heavier use. 49376-1 MGM295 (20,000-30,000)
