EXCEPTIONALLY FINE HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION 16 GAUGE ITHACA 4-E WITH VENTILATED RIB AND SINGLE TRIGGER. ITHACA SXS GRADE 4E 448984 16 GA MODERN Cal. 16 ga. 2-9/16" Chambers. 26" Bbls are fitted with raised, ventilated rib, and are unengraved and unmarked as to makers name. Engine turned bbl flats are stamped with SN and grade, bottoms of bbls with "BEST FLUID STEEL". Typical case hardened action with pin type cocking indicators which protrude through top, features Miller type sgl selective trigger with selector incorporated with safety. Action is engraved in typical "4" style with 70% coverage large, shaded acanthus, and geometric checkering on fences. This engraving surrounds vignettes of game birds on sides under "Ithaca Gun Co" with flying duck on left, and walking pheasant on right. SN is at grip. Lightly crotch figured American walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14" over red Ithaca sunburst pad. Stock features no "4" grade style checkering with fleur-di-lis intrusions and ribbons through pattern. Matching splinter ejector forend has inset ebony tip, and typical Deeley type release. Bore diameter: left -.665, right -.665. Bore restrictions: left -.018 (mod), right -.006 (IC). Wall thickness: left -.028, right -.029. Drop at heel: 3", drop at comb: 1-15/16". Weight: 7 lbs 0 oz. LOP: 14". CONDITION: Exceptionally fine. Bbls retain nearly all of their fine orig blue, with only one or two of the lightest nicks present. Engine turning on flats and breech ends is excellent. Action retains nearly all of its vivid orig color hardening, thinned a touch on bottom. Blue of forend iron not silvered. Forend latch also retains essentially all of its blue, the same can be said of the trigger guard. Stocks retain nearly all of their orig finish, with one or two light marks, and some lifting of finish on left side. Checkering is still clean and sharp. Bores are excellent. Mechanically crisp.
