UNUSUAL ITHACA 5-E ALL OPTION NID WITH CHEEKPIECE AND EXTRA GOLD INLAY. ITHACA SXS NID 5-E 429592 12 GA MODERN; IVORY Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 26" Bbls are fitted with raised, ventilated rib, and are unengraved and unmarked as to makers name. Engine turned bbl flats are stamped with SN and grade, bottoms of bbls with "BEST FLUID STEEL". Typical case hardened action with pin type cocking indicators which protrude through top, features Miller sgl selective trigger with selector in front of trigger. Action is engraved in typical "5" style with 80% coverage large, shaded acanthus, geometric checkering on fences, heraldic eagle on bottom over MADE IN USA, and with Ithaca name and address on floorplate. This engraving surrounds ovoid vignettes of game birds, which are semi-relief gold inlaid in usual grade "5" style. This gun features an unusual treatment of having these scenes within gold inlaid borders; a pheasant is on left, and a snipe is on right. SN is at grip. Fine feather crotch figured American walnut ebony capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-3/4" over red Ithaca sunburst pad. Stock features unusual large right hand shadow line cheekpiece, checkered side panels, and "5" grade style checkering with fleur-di-lis intrusions and ribbons through pattern. Large beavertail ejector forend does not have reinforcing bolt. Consignor states that this is a factory custom shop skeet gun. Bore diameter: left -.734, right -.733. Bore restrictions: left -.026 (Imod), right -.011 (IC-ish). Wall thickness: left -.032, right -.030. Drop at heel: 2-1/16", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Weight: 8 lbs 11 oz. LOP: 14-3/4". CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 85 - 90% of what appears to be orig blue, possibly an old re-blue. Action retains a considerable amount of its orig case hardening color. What are possibly factory replacemed stocks, retain nearly all of their varnish finish, with a number of light marks, and some areas thinned. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Locking lug on bbl shows evidence of being tightened. Mechanically very good. Front bead is missing. 155 NIDs were made in 5 grade. "Certifiable pre-ban ivory" mid-bead. 49432-22 MGM393 (5,000-8,000)
