VERY RARE PARKER BHE DOUBLE TRAP GUN WITH FACTORY CHEEKPIECE.PARKERSXS BHE17307112 GaMODERN; IVORYCal. 12 ga. 2-5/8" Chambers. 2 Frame. 32" Bbls have matted, concave rib marked with Parker''s Meriden CT address and "ACME STEEL". Bbl flats are stamped with grade, steel type, and weight. Left side of lump is stamped with SN. Typical Parker action is filed in "B" grade style with single bead around fences. All correct numbers and marks are on water table. Action features non-automatic safety and nickel-plated sgl selective Parker trigger. Action is engraved with 70 - 80% coverage scroll within geometric borders, surrounding vignettes of dogs; A pair of pointers, one pointing on left, and a pair of setters, one pointing, on right side. "Parker Bros" is engraved on rectangle on rear of both sides. A pointer and a setter are on trigger plate. Trigger guard bow is scroll engraved. SN is at grip. Finely marbled and stump figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/8" over 1-1/16" lengthening piece with checkered butt, and 1/16" white spacer. Stock is embellished in typical "B" grade style with inset checkered side panels, and deeply carved fleur-di-lis drop points. Checkering has shaped mullered borders. A gold oval engraved "Wm. E. UMSTATTD" "CANTON OHIO" is on toe line. Stock was made with exceptionally rare, nicely shaped swept right hand cheekpiece with small scrolled teardrop finial toward grip. Matching large beavertail ejector forend has reinforcing bolt and typical Parker release. Ejector patent date is on iron. Bore diameter: left -.734, right -.733. Bore restrictions: left -.021 (mod), right -.019 (mod). Wall thickness: left -.030, right -.024. Drop at heel: 2-3/16", drop at comb: 1-9/16". Weight: 8 lbs 7 oz. LOP: 14-3/8". PROVENANCE: PGCA letter indicating gun was orig shipped on May 19 1916 to Crawford & Deal of Canton Ohio. It was returned to factory on Jan 2 1918 to be restocked. Special instructions were: straight grip, LOP 14-1/4", DAC 1-1/2", DAH 2", full comb, CHEEKPIECE, with other safety work, etc. This is undoubtedly the present stock. CONDITION: Excellent, as partially refinished. Bbls retain essentially all of a fine satin re-black, possibly done when new stock was made. Action retains 70 - 80% orig case hardening color, silvered from normal handling on higher edges, bottom, and fences. Color on sides is exceptionally good and strong. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their orig oil finish with some refinishing toward butt, at time of lengthening piece being added. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. Trigger is a bit gummy. A very fine, unusual BHE. THE PARKER STORY relates that a total of 512 BH doubles were made with Acme steel bbls, 99 in 12 ga with 32" bbls. Twin bead sights are "certifiable pre-ban ivory". 49445-10 MGM306 (18,500-28,500)
