EXCEPTIONALLY RARE 10 BORE PARKER VH WITH DAMASCUS BARRELS.PARKERSXS VH17395810 GaMODERNCal. 10 ga. 2-7/8" Chambers. 3 Frame. 32" Bbls have slightly raised, concave, matted rib marked with Parker's Meriden CT address and "DAMASCUS STEEL". Bbl flats are stamped with steel type and weight, along with "X". Left side of lump is stamped with SN. Typical Parker action has all correct numbers and marks on water table, plus an "X". This gun is one of ten Damascus barreled VH guns serial numbered between 173953 to 173962, all in ten gauge. The "X" must denote a special order. Action features automatic safety and dbl triggers. Action is engraved in typical "V" style with wiggle borders. "Parker Bros" is on each side. Trigger guard bow has wiggle borders. SN is at grip. Relatively plain American walnut Parker capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over Parker dogs head buttplate with spur. Stock has point pattern checkering with mullered borders at grip. Vacant silver shield is on toe line. Matching splinter forend has steel tip and typical Parker release, stamped with patent date. Bore diameter: left -.783, right -.781. Bore restrictions: left -.032 (full), right -.035 (full). Wall thickness: left -.032, right -.038. Drop at heel: 3-1/8", drop at comb: 1-3/4". Weight: 8 lbs 11 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". All specifications match those in PARKER GUN IDENTIFICATION AND SERIALIZATION LEDGER. CONDITION: Excellent, as found. Bbls retain approx 85% orig Damascus finish, with some light flecking and thinning toward breech ends. Action retains approx 70% orig case hardening color, lightly silvered on bottoms and high points, with some brown staining (may clean). Trigger guard is almost completely flaked to gray brown. Stocks retain most of their orig finish, with considerable oil darkening where worn through. Stock has quite a few light marks, one or two deeper on right front of butt and at rear portion of forend. Checkering slightly worn. Bores are excellent with some light frosting. Action is tight. An exceptionally rare Parker, with a total of 20 ten bores estimated in all bbl lengths and steel types, by THE PARKER STORY, ten of which are in this group of Damascus barreled guns. The description in THE PARKER STORY of Damascus Vulcan grade guns concludes "Only one VH gun with Damascus bbls has been found for examination." 48937-2 MGM324 (1,500-2,500)
