FINELY RESTORED REMINGTON EEO MODEL 1894 TRAP GUN WITH CASE.REMINGTONSXS 1894 EE13227012 Ga (1905)MODERNCal. 12 GA(1905). This scarce gun with a total production estimate of 50 in this grade, has 30" Ordnance Steel bbls fitted with slightly raised, matted, flat rib. Tops of bbls are engraved "Remington Arms Co" "Ilion, N.Y. U.S.A." and "ORDNANCE". Bbl flats are stamped with SN and grade, and bottoms of bbls with "OEX". Pattern count numbers "330" and "309" are on rear lump. Case hardened boxlock action features automatic safety, Remington''s third fastener, and dbl triggers. Water table is stamped with SN, grade, patent info, and "F". Action is engraved in typical "E" style with near full coverage very well cut small scroll with vestigial scroll borders surrounding vignettes of dogs and game; front portion of left side shows a pair of partridge, one sitting, the other taking wing. Fine portrait of spaniel looks on from rear. A pair of woodcock are on right side with attentive pointer at rear. "REMINGTON ARMS CO" is in arched band over each bird scene. Trigger plate has more scroll surrounding fine scene of pointer and pointing setter in foreground, with rail fence and foliage in background. Scroll engraving is on trigger guard bow. SN is at grip. Nicely figured and lightly marbled European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15-5/8" over checkered wood butt with engraved and case hardened heel and toe plates, mounted on nearly invisible 1-3/4" extension. Side panels are checkered and have arrowhead drop points. Very fancy bordered checkering has ribbons through pattern separating closer spaced checkering at rear, and on top. A gold oval on toe line is engraved "H F E From G P". Matching splinter ejector forend has Remington''s Anson type release. Bore diameter: left -.729, right -.729. Bore restrictions: left -.010 (Lt mod), right -.005 (IC). Wall thickness: left -.025, right -.031. Drop at heel: 2-1/2", drop at comb: 1-9/16". Weight: 7 lbs 15 oz. LOP: 15-5/8". Exceptionally high quality oak and dark brown leather by Huey (?) has stitched leather corners and central brass lozenge on top. It comes with khaki canvas outer cover with brown leather trim. Case is lined in red cloth, with gold embossed Remington label in lid, which is semi-french fitted for gun, and french fitted for a number of gold-plated accessories including 2-pc brass and ebony cleaning rod, chamber brush with horn handle, gold-plated oil bottle with scroll engraving and initials "BEA" and Remington logo, striker bottle, and pair of snap caps with horn ends marked "Rem" and "Mod 1894". Also included is horn handled bow-tie set of turnscrews. PROVENANCE: Double Gun Journal Winter 1999, with article by Charles Semmer on this particular gun entitled "Remington Grade EEO From GP to HFE", picturing and describing this fine gun with hand written inscription signed by Charles Semmer. The Estate of B. E. "Andy" Anderson. CONDITION: Excellent, as restored, retaining nearly all of its fine restoration refinish on wood and metal, with a number of pits on breech area of bbls that did not polish out, and with some other deep pitting on front left of action. Lengthening piece very expertly painted in, is very nearly invisible. Bores are very fine with light frosting toward breech ends. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is excellent, as protected by its outer cover, which is also near new, with some light marks. Zipper is operable. Interior has some light compressions from contact with gun and bbls.
