EXCEPTIONALLY FINE .410 WINCHESTER MODEL 21 WITH GRADE 6 ENGRAVING WITH HUEY CASE.WINCHESTERSXS 21W33943.410MODERNCal. .410. 3" Chambers. 26" Bbls with raised, matted, ventilated rib engraved "CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER" in milled out portion. There are 3" triangles of scroll engraving at breech ends. Engine turned and lightened bbl flats are marked with SN and gauge information. Bbls are marked for skeet and skeet chokes. Blued, flat side, 21 action with milled out water table to reduce weight, features automatic safety and gold-plated single selective trigger. Action is engraved in typical 21-6 style with oak leaf and acorn carved fences, and about 90% coverage of various sized scroll surrounding oval dog vignette and game scenes; a setter on left and pointer on right, and a pair of pheasant standing in field on bottom. A dogs head is on trigger guard bow. Fabulous feather crotch American walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/8" over checkered wood butt, and features 21-B carving. A vacant gold oval is on toe line. Matching small beavertail braced forend has inset ebony tip and engine turned internals. Bore diameter at muzzles: left -.405, right -.420. Drop at heel: 2-1/8", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Weight: 6 lbs 10 oz. LOP: 14-3/8". Very fine oak and leather case by Huey (no. 1494) has stitched leather corners and reddish canvas outer cover with leather trim. Interior is lined in burgundy ultra-suede, and has Winchester gold and black label in lid and all surrounded by thin wood "frame". Tops of dividers are also of oak. Case has space for stocked action, bbls, and forend. Four covered compartments have brass knobs. Large compartment contains pair of turnscrews with ebony handles, and undetermined tool. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, essentially as new, with only a few of the lightest handling marks on wood and metal, including a tiny chip on right front portion of forend. Appears nearly unfired since proof. Case is also essentially as new, outer cover has some marks. 49498-2 MGM281 (30,000-50,000)
