Bbl, magazine tube & trigger are blued. Lever & hammer are color case hardened. According Marlin Firearms, Brophy, these rifles were produced about 1895-1915 with about 41,000 total production of which 10,327 were in Cal. 32. The Cal. 32 rifles were intended to fire either rim fire or center fire cartridges by simply exchanging firing pins. This rifle is set up for center fire. Pg 191 of the reference publication states that the highest numbered Model '92 either reported or observed was 436495. This rifle is nearly 200 numbers later than the highest reported, making it one of the very last Model '92 rifles. This rifle has the Model '92 cartridge stop and cartridge guide with 1-pc trigger. Given the limited number of these rifles produced in Cal. 32, one could extrapolate that extremely few had special order features such as extra length bbl and deluxe wood, and even fewer were engraved with the most rare being those with special plating. Very few of these rifles exist today especially with high orig finish. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching including stock and buttplate. Bbl & magazine tube retains about 98% strong orig blue with some very fine scratches around front sight. Receiver, forend cap & buttplate retain about all of their orig nickel with some minor spotting around the takedown screw on sideplate. Lever & hammer retain brilliant case colors, lightly to moderately faded on outer faces of lever. Wood is sound with light handling & use nicks & scratches with buttstock retaining about 95% slightly crazed orig varnish. Forearm retains 88-90% orig varnish. Mechanics are crisp. Bright shiny bore. 49121-18 JR (8,000-12,000)
