FINE DELUXE ENGRAVED MARLIN MODEL 1893 TAKEDOWN LEVER ACTION RIFLE.MARLIN189320013330-30Cal. 30-30. Special order deluxe rifle with 26" oct bbl, full magazine, tall nickle silver Rocky Mountain front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Mounted with very nicely figured, center crotch, uncheckered American walnut with straight stock and crescent buttplate. Bottom of stock has a very large blank silver shield and the toe has a repaired 1" chip. Left side of upper tang, under the wood, is marked with matching SN, which is also found in top tang channel of buttstock and inside toe of buttplate. Receiver is beautifully engraved in No. 2 pattern by Conrad Ulrich. Engraving consists of the large oval vignette of a running bull elk being chased by hound in a mountain scene on the left side and a standing Whitetail buck in detailed forest scene on the right side. Both sides have light foliate arabesque patterns surrounding with multiple border patterns. Matching engraving extends over top and bottom of receiver, on the lever boss and takedown ring. Forend cap is lightly engraved to match. Light engraving patterns extend over the exposed 5 flats of the bbl over the chamber area. In all likelihood this rifle was a gift or prize in the late 19th century and has seen very little use. CONDITION: Very fine, all matching. Bbl and magazine tube retain about 99% crisp original blue. Receiver retains brilliant case colors on the sides, lightly to moderately faded on top and bottom edges. Forend cap, takedown ring and buttplate retain about all of their moderately faded case colors. Takedown lock retains brilliant case colors on sides, turn silver on outer edge. Lever & hammer retain bright case colors, moderately faded on right side and outer faces of lever. Stock, with the repaired toe, otherwise wood is sound with a few light handling and storage nicks & scratches and overall retains most of its original factory varnish. Mechanics are crisp. Bright shiny bore. Shows very little use. 49617-4 JR (5,000-8,000)
