NOTE: Kathleen A. Foster notes in the Catalog for the Chamber’s exhibition, Thomas Chambers: American Marine and Landscape Painter, 1808-1869 that "at least a dozen paintings...combine the exotic appeal of the East and the legendary beauty of the Rhine Valley into the most fantastic landscapes in Chambers' repertory.” She also notes that these were often produced in pairs. The frame also appears to be original as it is an extremely close match to several of those know to have been used by Chambers and further discussed by Ms Foster in the catalog. Additionally the dimensions of 22” x 30” are common for his works and this series in particular. SIZE: 22" x 30".
