There is little doubt this is the most famous American recruiting poster of all time. The iconic image of Flag posed as Uncle Sam first occurred on the cover of Leslie's magazine July 6, 1916. the poster with the text "I WANT YOU" was first published February 15, 1917. This poster has the imprint "Copyright 1917, Leslie-Judge Co. NY". This is a very fine example. SIZE: PROVENANCE: From the personal estate collection of John W. Armiger Jr. Sold from these floors as Lot 2153, February 5, 2010. CONDITION: Custom frame measures about 47" x 38". Excellent color. Very good to fine overall. Central vertical crease and other scattered creases where poster appeared to have once been rolled.
