TWO CARVED AND PAINTED TOBACCONIST FIGURES.

1) 20th century Caribbean possibly American figure. Carved of pine Caribbean Tobacconist figure with amulet, feathered head dress and dress. Standing on a tapered platform. 2) 20th century, possibly Asian, carved of a solid piece of tropical hardwood. Holding a book style box in proper left hand which reads "Cigars and Tobacco". Proper right hand was designed to hold something which is not present. Tobacco leaves tucked in between elbow and body. SIZE: 1) 57" h x 17" w x 12" d. 2) 70-1/2" t x 17" w x 14" d. PROVENANCE: From the personal estate collection of Michael Urioste of Gadsden Alabama. CONDITION: 1) Good with some age cracks and paint loss. 2) Good with age cracks, paint loss. Portion of feathered head dress repaired. 49354-6 DH (2,400-3,600)
