GE-TYPE HU FORM VASE.The flattened ovoid body tapering to a flared mouth, flanked by a pair tube handles at the neck with two raised bands, and supported on a recessed foot, covered completely with rich pale grey glaze suffused with network of dark crackles joined by finer golden brown crackles. Accompanied by photocopies of some photographs of Capt. Pearce along with a a photocopy of a "Map of Kyoto and Vicinity with Shopping Directory", presumably the shops he visited. SIZE: 6-3/4" h. PROVENANCE: From the estate collection of U.S. Navy Captain Edward Pearce, Dover, Delaware. CONDITION: Very good. 49068-5 jdj (3,000-5,000)
