BLACK AND GILT LACQUERED LOW PORTABLE CABINET, TANSU.Second half 19th century, Japan. Exterior with profuse bronze mounts, the surface with raised lacquer design of landscapes of oceans and mountains. Doors open to reveal 10 sliding drawers. SIZE: 35-3/4" w x 31" h. CONDITION: Top worn with some age cracks. Some losses to lacquer and rubbing to gilt lacquer. Doors with some age cracks. Some mounts loose. Interior with some age cracks but overall very clean.
