FINE 15TH CENTURY KATANA "RAI KUNITOSHI YAMASHIRO" IN SHIRASHAYA. This fine Japanese sword in polish exhibits cutting edge 25-1/2" long with total blade including tang of 32". Tang has ancient black color and heavily pitted, though three character signature is discernible and translates "RAI KUNITOSHI YAMASHIRO". This sword maker rates "SAIJA SAKU" according Hawley (very good). Kunitoshi worked in the first quarter of the 15th century circa 1410. SIZE: CONDITION: Blade has been polished many times showing numerous separations (kizus) though only a few are present in temper which is easily discerned over most of length of blade to tip. 48546-2 (3,000-5,000) JS0
