LARGE SOAPSTONE CARVING.19th century, China. Stone of a celadon color with red markings. Base of brown and tan. Carved and pierced with a historical scene from the life of Chu Ko Liang, 5-character inscription attesting so. SIZE: 22-1/2" h. PROVENANCE: Louis Joseph Auctions, Boston, MA. CONDITION: Chip to the top of the left side. Good with fissures. Base very good. 49346-7 JC (600-800)
