Note: Dieudonne Cedor is considered one of the leading Haitian painters of the 20th century. This work was created in 1947, the year the artist left his career as a cabinetmaker to devote himself to art. He became a member of the "Centre d' Art", where he studied under the supervision of Rigaud Benoit, who taught him the elementary principals of pictorial art. In 1949, Cedor became a member of the committee of administration of the "Centre" and was later elected president of the Haitian Artist Association, and became a founding member of the "Foyer des Arts Plastiques".
