PAIR OF CONTINUOUS ARM WINDSOR CHAIRS.Late 18th/early 19th century, Connecticut. Highly sculpted saddle seats with guttering around the perimeter of spindle area of chairs. Bold turnings with pleasing rake and matching arm supports. "H" stretchers of typical bulbous form, undoubtedly manufactured by E. Tracy or Amos Dennison Allen. Each with 11 spindles to back. SIZE: 36" h x 21-1/4" w x 16-1/2" seat h. PROVENANCE: Estate of Siro R. Toffolon of Old Lyme, CT. CONDITION: Slight crimps to bows at elbows but not broken. Some very small checks to seats and bows at spindle locations. Old refinish with pleasing worn nut brown patina. 49476-73 DH (2,500-3,500)
