WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1866 ROUND BARREL FULL MAGAZINE RIFLE WITH STRAIGHT GRAINED AMERICAN WALNUT STOCKS AND CRESCENT BUTTPLATE. WINCHESTER 1866 161362 44 CF Cal. 44 CF. 24" rnd bbl. Full magazine. High after market front sight. All markings correct for this model. Gun metal receiver. Straight grained American walnut stocks with crescent butt. Manufactured in 1883. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. "Bill" Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube are gray-brown patina overall with some slight roughness near forend cap and muzzle. Sights are very good. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Bbl address is clear. Receiver is a pleasing mustard brown patina with high point wear and some denting around side plates on both sides. Elevator matches finish of receiver and shows some denting. SN is clear. Hammer and lever are a deep brown patina with some roughness on bottom of lever. Stocks are very good and full-sized with dents and scratches overall commensurate with age of rifle. Buttplate is a deep brown patina with some roughness.
