RARE SPECIAL ORDER FULL NICKEL PLATED 2ND MODEL 1873 WINCHESTER SADDLE RING CARBINE WITH SET TRIGGER AND CRESCENT IN SADDLE SCABBARD MADE BY MARFA SADDLERY CO MARFA, TEXAS. WINCHESTER 1873 2ND MDL SRC 71107 44 WCF Cal. 44 WCF. 20" bbl. Full nickel finish. Single set trigger. Figured American walnut stocks with crescent butt. Standard markings for this model. Rear sight is of 2-leaf type. Lower tang has assembly no. 1537. There is also an "X" which indicates figured stocks. Assembly no. S1537 is stamped inside upper tang mortise of stock. Nickel buttplate is stamped "O" over "1537" on inside toe. Carbine has rare single set trigger and saddle ring. Scabbard is stamped with a maker''s cartouche on right side. Cartouche is of Marfa Saddlery Co. Marfa, Texas. Manufactured in 1881. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. "Bill" Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube retain 30-40% orig nickel finish with sharp bbl address. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver is a silver-gray patina overall with a considerable amount of orig nickel finish remaining on lower tang. Side plates retain 50-60% scratched orig nickel finish. Elevator retains 50% scratched nickel finish. Loading gate retains 80% nickel finish. Hammer and trigger retain 50-60% orig nickel finish. Tang markings are clear. Stocks are very good with nicely figured "1X" grain overall. Buttplate is a silver-gray patina with traces of nickel on tang and some corrosion at heel and toe. Bbl bands are silver-gray patina with the slightest traces of nickel plating. Saddle scabbard is good and shows considerable use with a clear maker''s cartouche on right side. Saddle scabbard has rawhide repair to stitching. A very rare full Nickel Model 1873 Carbine with set trigger and 1-X wood. 49973-22 TEP (3,000-5,000)
