WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1873 OCTAGON BARREL FULL MAGAZINE RIFLE WITH BRASS BUTTPLATE.WINCHESTER187337141632 WCFCal. 32 WCF. 24" oct bbl, full mag, blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with non-original brass buttplate and steel forend cap. Bbl has standard 2-line address in front of sight and cal mark at the breech. Standard sights. Receiver is of the stepped variety. Upper tang is marked "Model 1873" with finials. Lower tang has SN stamped behind lever. Elevator has "38 Cal" stamp. Stocks has varnished finish. Buttstock has non-original brass buttplate. Stock has been reshaped to fit the buttplate. Forend is standard. CONDITION: Good. Bbl and mag tube are a plum/brown patina overall. Markings are sharp. Sights are good. Rear sight has been reblued. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver is a gray/brown patina overall with some scratching and dents. Lower tang is a replacement. Dust cover is a silver/gray color with replaced screw. Receiver screws are somewhat marred. Tang markings are sharp. Elevator mark is faint with numerous dents and scratches. Stocks have been resized and varnished and have handling marks overall. Forend has dark staining. Buttplate is a mustard patina. Forend cap is a plum/brown patina. An interesting old Model '73 with custom modifications. 49971-11 TEP (600-1,000)
