RARE ORVILLE M. ROBINSON PATENT TUBE LOADING REPEATING RIFLE TYPE ONE A.K.A. MODEL 1870.ADIRONDACK ARMSBRASS FRAME6638 RFCal .38 RF, 26-1/4" oct bbl with 3/4" length magazine, blue finish, gun metal receiver. Straight grained American walnut butt stock with brass crescent buttplate. Bbl has SN "66" stamped on left flat at breech. Bbl has brass blade front sight and iron rear sight mounted near receiver. Rear sight dove-tail further forward has been filled. There is also a filled hole behind filled dove-tail. Receiver has SN "66" stamped at the forward left side. Right side of receiver below ejection port has "Robinson's Patd May 24. 70." over "Mf'd By A.S. Babbit & Co." over "Plattsburgh. N.Y." Loading gate on right side of receiver pivots down for loading. SN "66" is stamped on rear face. There is an adjustable stop on bottom of receiver that is secured by a wing-nut. Gun metal trigger guard has a loop at the rear and has "66" stamped on the right rear trigger guard bow. Bolt has wing-like grippers for fingers at each side of the hammer, for activating mechanism and cocking. Buttstock and buttplate are unmarked. Less than 600 total estimated manufactured. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl is a smooth gray brown patina overall with some blotches, stains, and high point wear. Sights are very good. Bore is black with traces of rifling. SN mark is legible. Receiver is a mustard yellow patina with dents and mars at the forward end around the takedown pin. Top of receiver has been dented out from the inside. Dent has a 1" crack on the side. SN is sharp. Address on lower right side is washed out at the top and sharp at the bottom. Iron wing-nut on bottom of frame has mustard brown patina. Trigger guard is gray brown patina with sharp SN mark. Cocking piece has sharp coarse checkering on either side and is a smooth brown patina. Loading gate is a silver gray patina with a sharp SN stamp. Hammer has a gray brown patina with sharp checkering. Stock is very good and retains almost all of the varnish finish with scratches and marks overall. Stock is missing a piece at the tang on the right side and has been repaired at the tang on the left side. Buttplate has a mustard patina overall with some staining. An opportunity to obtain an extremely rare Model 1870 Robinson Patent Repeating Rifle. 50013-6 TEP (3,500-5,000)
