RARE COLT BURGESS OCTAGON BARREL FULL MAGAZINE LEVER ACTION RIFLE WITH CRESCENT BUTT. COLT BURGESS 194 44 WCF Cal .44 WCF, 25-1/2" bbl, full magazine, blue finish. Straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent butt. This is a very low numbered Colt Burgess rifle. Made in 1883. One of only 3,810 made. Bbl has 2-line Colt address and Patent mark in front of rear sight. No cal marking is present. Bbl has a German silver blade front sight and standard rear sight. Receiver has a rampant Colt logo on left side. SN is stamped on lower tang behind trigger. Stocks are straight grained walnut with crescent butt and steel fore-end cap. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. "Bill" Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine are a gray brown patina overall, with some roughness towards the muzzle and small dents overall. Bbl address is sharp. Front sight is good. Rear sight is rough and missing elevator. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver is a gray brown patina overall with traces of blue at the rear end. Rampant Colt logo is sharp. Generous traces of bright blue on lower tang. SN is sharp. Stocks are very good, slightly under-sized with numerous scratches and dents overall. Fore-end has the "Burgess" crack that is typical of this Model. Fore-end also has some denting on either side on sight.
