SCARCE COLT 3RD MODEL DRAGOON REVOLVER WITH U.S. MARKINGS. COLT US 3RD MDL DRAGOON 11998 44 CAL Cal. 44. Standard configuration with 7-1/2" bbl, blade front sight, six shot rnd cyl. SN and inspectors mark on bbl assembly, frame, trigger guard and butt. Left side of frame marked "COLT''S PATENT US". 1-pc walnut grip with remnants of original cartouche. Brass front and backstrap. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. "Bill" Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Good. No original finish remains on steel surfaces, light staining and scattered minor surface erosion throughout. Cyl scene is approximately 30-40% visible. Grips are very good with light handling marks and minor repair to right grip, chip at toe. Faint cartouche. Mechanics very good.
