HANDSOME HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION COLT 1851 NAVY FOURTH MODEL WITH HIGH QUALITY TOOLED AND LINED "SLIM JIM" HOLSTER. COLT 1851 4TH MDL CIV 166287 36 CAL Cal. 36. A fine Navy with 7-1/2" oct bbl, brass cone front sight, 1-line New York US America address. Left side of frame has a small "Colt''s Patent", and left shoulder of trigger guard is marked "36 Cal". Brass trigger guard and backstrap with 1-pc walnut grip. Cylinder with Ormsby Naval battle scene. Holster is of the "Slim Jim" style and is fully tooled with a red leather lining. Holster is of the highest quality. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. "Bill" Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 75-80% toned orig bbl blue with a light area of minor corrosion at muzzle and at left side and a couple of battering marks near wedge on right side. Overall very pleasing. Frame and hammer retain traces of orig case color. Cylinder scene is very good with 80-85% visible. Trigger guard and backstrap retain a pleasing mustard color with no orig silver remaining. It is well-known that on these late civilian guns, the plating was very weak when new, and they are rarely found with any orig plating left today. Grips are excellent with a few light bumps and retain 70-80% of what appears to be their orig varnish with minor loss at butt on left side and toe on right. Holster is in very good condition. Tooling is sharp. Stitching is intact. Lining is intact. Belt loop was replaced long ago. Toe plug is missing. 49973-80 JSL84 (1,200-3,200)
