FINE CIVIL WAR COLT MODEL 1862 POLICE REVOLVER. COLT 1862 POLICE 25472 36 CAL Cal. 36. This nice example retaining much of original finish of popular model 1862, 36 cal revolver with fluted cylinder with the longest and most desirable 6-1/2" bbl. This particular example was made in 1863 and was quite popular among Union Officers as private purchased firearms. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. "Bill" Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Gun is all matching and markings all discernible. Bbl retains 60-70% original bright blue finish with scratches and numerous small dents around wedge slot. Cylinder retains about 20% blue finish with scattered areas of pitting. Frame retains over half of its bright case colors with balance silver/gray. Brass trigger guard and backstrap retain about 95% of their original silver plating. Grips are sound and well fit retaining 95%+ bright factory varnish with edge wear and 2 cut notches on left side. Mechanically functional with crisp bright bore. 49973-209 JS (2,000-3,000)
