RARE LAWMAN'S COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER NICKEL PLATED WITH COLT STAGHORN GRIPS SHIPPED TO THE CHIEF OF POLICE CITY OF SANTA MARIA, CALIFORNIA. COLTSAA35343245 COLTMODERN; C&RCal. 45 Colt. 5-1/2" bbl, full nickel finish, factory Staghorn grips with nickel Colt medallions. Bbl has standard one line address on top and Colt SAA cal mark on left side. High thick profile front sight. Frame has 2-line patent date stamped on forward left side with Rampant Colt logo without circle to the right. Loading gate has assembly number 275 stamped on rear face, frame has assembly number 338 stamped on right rear. Loading gate has been replaced but fits well. SN matches on frame, backstrap and trigger guard. Cyl is unmarked. Staghorn grips have full SN in pencil on either side, below which number 428 is written. Grips have 3 relief holes drilled behind medallions. Accompanied by a Colt Factory Letter confirming all of the features including grips and showing shipment to G.E. Baker, Chief of Police, City of Santa Maria, on March 19, 1931, factory order 19616/1 in a 1 gun shipment. Research shows City of Santa Maria is in California. PROVENANCE: The Brad Shepherd Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and ejector rod housing retain nearly all of the org nickel finish with a few slight scratches overall. Markings are sharp. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Frame retains nearly all of orig nickel finish with some small scratches, mainly on the recoil shield. Loading gate has some slight erosion. Hammer, trigger and screws also retain nearly all orig finish. Cyl retains nearly all of orig nickel finish with some small scratches overall and a very slight drag mark. Cyl bushing is blued. Cyl base pin retains nearly all of the orig nickel finish and is unmarred. An opportunity to obtain a Lawman's Colt Single Action in a rare finish with extremely rare Colt Factory Staghorn grips. 50062-31 TEP (4,000-6,000)
