COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH STAG GRIPS.COLTSAA30965832 WCFMODERN; C&RCal .32-20, 4-3/4" bbl, blue and case color finish with 2-pc stag-horn grips. Bbl has a 2-line Colt address at the rear with index mark and caliber mark on left side toward breech. Frame has 2-line Patent address in front of Rampant Colt in a circle on left side. SN matches on frame, backstrap and trigger guard. Cylinder is unnumbered. Left side of trigger guard shows "VP" proof on front bow and "W" assemblers mark on rear bow. Stag grips have SN in pencil on the inside of each grip. This is not a factory mark. This revolver is accompanied by a factory letter confirming caliber, bbl length, and finish. Type of stocks are not listed. Shipped to McIntosh Hardware Company, Albuquerque, Territory of New Mexico, c/o Winchester Repeating Arms Company, New Haven, Connecticut on July 24, 1909 in a shipment of 5 guns. In this period of time Colt was obliged by restrictive trade arrangements to use Winchester as an export agent. PROVENANCE: The Brad Shepherd Collection. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and ejector rod have been cleaned and show a cold blue finish. Bbl markings are sharp. Front sight is proper low profile for the caliber. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Frame has sharp markings and shows traces or orig case colored finish which is vibrant in the gullet in front of cylinder. There is some roughness on top strap. Screws are good with some blue remaining. Hammer shows traces of case color, especially on left side, with sharp coarse knurling. Trigger is bright with brown patina sides. Trigger guard shows a gray blue finish with touch-up. Backstrap also shows gray blue finish with touch-up. Cylinder also shows a gray blue cylinder with some touch-up. There are the remnants of bright blue finish in the flutes. Chambers are good. SN''s are all sharp. Action is good. Grips are yellow patina without any chips. A very good Colt Single Action with attractive stag grips that was shipped to the Territory of New Mexico in the Frontier days. 50062-18 TEP (2,000-3,000)
