CASED PAIR OF COLT NEW HOUSE REVOLVERS IN ENGLISH CASE. COLT HOUSE 15851/16665 38 CF/41 CF 1) Cal. 38 CF. 2 1/4" bbl. Full nickel finish. Blue screws. Bbl has 2-line bbl address and etched panel on left side that reads "COLT HOUSE 38". Bbl has 2 small British proofs with a "J" proof in base pin gullet. Frame is stamped "38 Cal." on left side about trigger guard. SN is present only on butt of frame. Cylinder has "P" stamped on front face between chambers and small British proofs at the rear of each flute. Checkered hard rubber grips with Colt medallion. 2) Cal. 41 CF. 2 1/4" bbl. Full nickel finish. Blue screws. Bbl has 2-line address with etched panel on left side that reads "COLT HOUSE 41". Bbl has 2 small British proofs on bottom side. Frame is stamped "41 Cal." on left side above trigger. Cylinder has "P" proof on front face and small British proofs behind each flute. SN is present on bottom of frame and inside both grips. Checkered hard rubber grips with Colt medallion. English style oak case with screwed on lid and brass plaque in center of lid. Case is lined in red felt. Case contains a cleaning rod, a cleaning brush, an oil bottle and key. Case has Colt label inside lid. The pair is accompanied by a collector''s index card showing that these revolvers were purchased from David Woloch in 1968. There is also a Colt factory letter for revolver #1 which indicates the revolver was shipped with blue finish. No other features listed and showing shipment to London on March 29, 1883. PROVENANCE: The Dr. Robert G. Cox Estate Collection. CONDITION: 1) Very fine. Bbl retains 99% nickel finish with only 1 small spot of erosion on right side of bbl. Bbl address is sharp. Etched panel is excellent. Sight is excellent. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Frame retains 99% nickel finish overall with one small area of flaking on left side of top strap. Marking is sharp. Hammer retains 98% fire blue. Trigger retains 70% fire blue. Frame screws retain nearly all their fire blue finish. Cylinder retains 95% nickel finish with some flaking and slight stain on 1 chamber toward front end. Chambers are dark. Grips are very good with sharp checkering, clear medallions and no chips. 2) Very fine. Bbl retains 99% nickel finish with sharp address and excellent etched panel. Sight is fine. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Frame retains 98% nickel finish with a minor flake below side plate on left side. Hammer retains 98% fire blue. Trigger retains 80% fire blue. Frame screws retain almost all their fire blue finish. Cylinder retains 95% nickel finish with some slight flaking toward muzzle end. Chambers are dark. Grips are very good with sharp checkering and no cracks or chips. Case is very fine with only minor scratches on exterior. Case lining is very good with some wear on inner lid. A very nice pair of matching Colt New House revolvers is a fine London case. 50019-254 TEP (3,000-5,000)
