INCREDIBLE LIFELONG JAMES REID RESEARCH LIBRARY OF CARMEN GIANFORTE. Included in this lot are three copies, (two of which are near mint and inscribed to our consignor by the author of the Book) "James Reid and his Catskill Knuckledusters" by Taylor G. Bowen. Also included are the beginning drafts of a book Mr. Gianforte had at one time considered writing, that includes tremendous detailed photographs of hundreds of Reid products from the beginning of his time as a gun manufacturer. This draft includes three large notebooks detailing Reid's progression year by year.Various gun dealer catalogs that Mr. Gianforte used for reference, including early Robert Abels catalog no. 26, several Dean Williams of Spirit Lake, Iowa. Included are letters to and from various dealers including Norm Flayderman, Dick Littlefield, John Laidacker, Paul Janke, etc. Also included are two copies of the extremely rare 1950's publication by Sam Smith written entirely on Reids. Also included is a file on literally hundreds of Reid products (mostly My Friend Knuckledusters but other models also included) with each and every Reid pistol Mr. Gianforte encountered during his entire tenure as a collector (more than thirty years worth of gathering information).
