RARE SHARPS MODEL 1852 SLANT BREECH CARBINE U.S. ISSUE. SHARPS 1852 CARBINE 2758 52 CAL Cal .52 Percussion, 21-1/2" bbl. Standard brass front sight with folding leaf rear sight. Brass bbl band with long saddle ring bar attached. "Robbins & Lawrence" stamped behind rear sight. Receiver is marked "C Sharps Patent 1848" in front of SN on upper tang. Receiver has a disc primer system. Lock is marked "C Sharps Patent 1852". Breech block has SN stamped on rear face and a platinum ring on front face. Lever is unmarked. Buttstock has a "WAT" acceptance cartouche on left side opposite lock. Brass patchbox has 196 stamped on inside of lid. Brass buttplate is unmarked. Long saddle ring bar is mounted from left side of receiver to bbl band. Fore-end is also unmarked. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. "Bill" Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Fine for this Model. Bbl is a gray brown patina overall. Sights are very good. Bbl marking is sharp. Bore is dark with strong rifling. Receiver is a gray brown patina overall with some staining on the top. Lock is a silver gray patina with some staining and minor pitting toward the rear end. Hammer is a dark brown patina with traces of case color. Lever is a gray brown patina with some roughness on the bottom. Breech block SN is sharp. Stocks are very fine with only minor handling marks overall and a crisp cartouche on left side. Buttplate and patchbox are a mustard patina with some staining. Bbl band is a mustard patina. A chance to get a rare Model 1852 Sharps Carbine which were issued in 1854 to the U.S. 2nd Dragoons fighting Indians in the West. 49973-485 TEP (3,500-5,500)
