R. G. OWEN CUSTOM SPRINGFIELD WITH SCOPE. RG OWEN BOLT ''03 SPRINGFIELD 633 30-06 MODERN; C&R; IVORY Cal. 30-06. 24" Tapered round bbl is fitted with banded-on sling eye and front ramp holding a "certifiable pre-ban ivory" bead. Ramp is fitted with knurled sight protector with detent. Top of bbl is engraved "R. G. OWEN - SAUQUOIT, N.Y. NO 633". Springfield action has checkered top of receiver ring and is fitted with G&H side mount and Lyman 48 receiver sight. Receiver sight base holds a blank slide; receiver bridge is cut to accept normal slide. Bolt with turned down handle for low scope has checkered knob. A low scope safety has been fitted. Orig bottom metal has had bow slimmed, and floorplate has been converted to hinged type with release in bow. Nicely figured European walnut stock features checkered steel buttplate with trap, engraved steel grip cap with trap, right hand shadow line cheekpiece, horn forend tip, and nicely cut point pattern checkering at grip and forend. Rifle is fitted with Unertl 4 X (?) scope with crosshair reticle in alloy G&H rings. Weight with scope: 8 lbs. 11 oz. CONDITION: Good. Metal parts retain approx 70 - 80% what appears to be orig blue with loss from typical use. Stock has been stripped and not re-oiled, but is generally good. Bore is good with strong rifling, rather dark, and lightly pitted. Action is smooth. Scope is fine, optics somewhat clouded. 50145-10 MGM209 (3,000-5,000)
