WINCHESTER MODEL 1890 TAKEDOWN SLIDE ACTION RIFLE. WINCHESTER 1890 544051A 22 LONG MODERN; C&R Cal .22 LONG, 24" bbl, blue finish, straight grained American walnut stocks with grooved fore-end. Bbl has standard Winchester address, model and cal mark on upper left side. "WP" proof in oval at breech. Standard sights with Winchester patent marks. Receiver has SN stamped on the bottom at the forward end. Lower tang has SN stamped behind trigger guard. Upper tang has standard Winchester marking for this model. Stocks are unmarked. Crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 20-30% blue finish with some roughness on the face of the muzzle. Markings are sharp. Sights are good. Rear sight elevator is missing. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Magazine tube has turned a plumb patina with wear where the slide operates. Receiver is an even blue gray patina overall. Bolt is a plumb brown patina. Upper tang is a silver gray. Trigger guard/lower tang is also silver gray. Hammer shows blue in protected areas. Stocks are very good, full sized, and retain nearly all their varnish finish, with only miniscule handling marks. Butt plate is a cleaned silver gray patina.
