U.S. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1896 KRAG RIFLE.SPRINGFIELD ARMORY1896 KRAG80970.30 USCal .30-US, 30" bbl, blue and cased color finish. Straight grain American walnut stock and hand guard. Bbl has standard sights for this model. Rear sight is graduated to 1,800 yards. Received is marked "Model 1896" in front of U.S. Springfield Armory and SN on left side. Bolt is bright finish with case hardened safety. Firing pin is blue. Extractor is fire-blue. Stock has a "JLA" over 1897 inspectors cartouche in a rectangle on left side over trigger. Stock has a circle "P" proof behind trigger guard with initials "H.D.R." in front of it. Rifle is equipped with leather sling. Rifle is equipped with a brass muzzle cap. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl retains 90% bright blue finish with some muzzle wear. Front bbl band retains 70% bright blue finish, as does the rear band. Sights are very good. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver is a dark mottled blue black finish with some oil staining and very sharp marks. Bolt is fine with very little primer wear. Bolt handle and rear of firing pin retains considerable blue finish. Extractor retains considerable fire-blue finish. Stock is also fine with crisp cartouche and other markings. Buttplate retains 20% blue finish, blending to a pleasing brown patina. Muzzle cap is a mustard brown patina. 49767-4 TEP (1,200-1,500)
