U.S. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1903 NATIONAL MATCH RIFLE.SPRINGFIELD ARMORY1903 NM127629530-06MODERN; C&RCal .30-06, 24" bbl, Parkerized finish. Straight grain American walnut stock with handguard. This rifle exhibits all of the characteristics of a correct National Match rifle. Bbl has a "Star Gauge Proof" at the 6 o-clock position on the muzzle. Bolt is polished bright with honed camming surfaces. SN is written with electric pencil on bolt. Bolt runways on receiver are polished. Deep checkered buttplate, serrated trigger, bright extractor. Bolt has headless cocking piece. Bolt also has reverse safety. Stock is of the "S type" with straight grip and grasping grooves. "D.A.L." inspector cartouche in a rectangle on left side. Bbl is marked "SA" over an ordinance bomb over 3-28 behind the front sight. Receiver is marked "U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903" over the SN on forward ring. Rifle has an unmarked military leather sling attached. Rifle also has front and rear sight covers. Rear sight cover is marked "P.J. O'Hare South Orange, N.J. made in U.S.A." Stock has a circular "P" proof behind trigger guard with a small "S" inspector mark above it. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains considerable brush-blue military finish with sharp markings. Bore is fine with strong rifling and clean chamber. Receiver retains nearly all of the dark gray Parkerized finish with high-point wear. Receiver markings are sharp. Trigger guard and floor plate retain a considerable amount of Parkerized finish with some erosion. Rear sight is very good. Bolt is very good with considerable traces of case hardened finish on the firing pin sear and about 50% blue on the rear of the firing pin. Stock is fine with sharp markings. P proof mark is slightly washed out. Hand guard is fine with no cracks. Sight covers retain a considerable amount of blue finish fading to a plumb brown patina with sharp marks.
