EXTREMELY RARE FACTORY ENGRAVED GOLD-PLATED SMITH & WESSON 38 HAND EJECTOR 1ST MODEL DA REVOLVER FOR PAN AMERICAN EXPO, BUFFALO, NY 1901. SMITH & WESSON HAND EJECTOR 1ST MODEL 11587 38 SPCL MODERN; C&R Cal. 38 Spcl. Fine factory gold finish with 6-1/2" bbl, integral half-moon front sight & 2-line address with last patent date 1898 & Cal. marking on left side. Mounted with 2-pc smooth, birdhead, gold medallion pearl grips that are matching numbered to this revolver. Backstrap is engraved "G.R.D. NOV. 7TH 1901". Frame, cyl & bbl are incredibly engraved with wonderful daisy blossoms & foliate patterns. The S&W Historian confirms that this revolver was produced for display at the 1901 Pan American Expo in Buffalo NY. This extraordinary revolver was likely presented as a gift to "G.R.D." following the close of the Expo on Nov. 2, 1901. PROVENANCE: S&W Factory Letter. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus, all matching including bbl, cyl & grip. Overall retains 96-97% strong orig gold plating with the only losses some minor sharp edge wear at the muzzle & some light flaking on the front & backstraps. Grips are crisp with great fire & color.
