MT. WASHINGTON ROYAL FLEMISH MYTHOLOGICAL BIRD VASE.Royal Flemish vase, shape #243, has a bulbous body with flared ring collar, having a gilt mythological eagle design on one side and gilt dragon design on reverse, set against a background of gold, lavender and burgundy panels. Vase is further decorated with stylized star patterns on either sides of mythological figures, gilt and beaded ring on foot and beaded gilt ring on collar with stylized leaves having gilded outlines against a burgundy and clear background. Similar vase is pictured in Mt. Washington Art Glass by Betty Sisk, p185. Unsigned. SIZE: 10-3/4" t. PROVENANCE: From the Unreserved Collection of Mrs. Jackie & the late Dean Ballard. CONDITION: Very good with very few losses to body gilding, body of vase has minor scuffing appropriate for age. Several of the beads on foot ring have small flakes with gilding loss. 50421-17 MEF (2,000-3,000)
