RARE FINE A H FOX OF PHILADELPHIA J GRADE SINGLE BARREL TRAP GUN.AH FOXJ GRADE40010612GAMODERN; C&RCal. 12ga. Chambers 2-3/4", 30" Chromox steel bbl, choke Full. J grade engraved ejector action, with generous, handsome scroll work. Standard trap fore-end. Sgl trigger, nicely figured buttstock with A. H. Fox marked capped pistol grip. 14-3/4" to hard rubber buttplate. DAC 1-1/2", DAH 2-1/4". Accompanied by Fox historian Callahan letter dated Nov 2006, verifying configuration of gun. Shipped June 18, 1920 to E. K. Tryon Co of Philadelphia. No safety. CONDITION: Fine. Gun retains a high percentage of factory finishes. Bbl retains nearly all of orig blue with minor handling marks and rib appears sound. Bright shiny bore with no pitting. Receiver and top lever retain much of their original case colors, displaying period, blue, grey and putty hues. Trigger guard retains nearly all of its "fiery" factory blue. Wood is fine, sound and unaltered with sharp checkering, minor handling marks; oil finish. The buttstock is highly figured with fiddleback throughout. Correct ribbed buttplate. Fore-end iron has bright, bold case colors evident. Fore-end release retains full case color. Top lever right of center. Gun operates crisply, strong ejector. Fine screws. An unusually nice example of a fine and unmolested sgl bbl Fox trap gun. Existing Fox records indicate only 52 J-grades were produced with 30" barrels. 50362-1 FTL (3,000-5,000)
