PRE-WAR MERKEL MODEL 301E SPORTING SHOTGUN.MERKEL301E2422416GAMODERN; C&RCal. 16 ga. 2-3/4" Cham. 29" bbls, Cyl/Cyl choke, 1937 nitro proof. Scalloped receiver with full coverage floral engraving with scroll highlights. Top lever bears monogram "W.Sch", double trigger, cocking indicators, auto ejectors. Medium brown European walnut stock, 3-piece forend with horn forend tip, capped pistol grip stock with inlaid horn drop points, recent leather covered pad. Metal trigger guard is unengraved and likely a recent replacement. CONDITION: Good to very good as professionally restored. Gun retains most of its restored wood and metal finish with some thinning and oxidation at muzzle and high points of rib, action has silvered.
