RARE DWM 1908 MILITARY/COMMERCIAL LUGER IN CASE. DWM LUGER 1908 MILITARY/POLICE 69859 9MM MODERN; C&R; IMPORT Cal. 9mm. 4" bbl with Imperial proof on top and full SN on bottom. "DWM" scroll on center toggle link. Imperial Crown/X proofs on right receiver, as opposed to Imperial proofs on left receiver on standard 1908 Military Lugers. 69,000 serial range indicates one of about 450 military guns made circa 1913 with commercial SN placement. Numbers on gun are matching, including checkered walnut grips. Hold open added. No stock lug. Added Sear safety indicates later Police issue. Wood bottom mag has Imperial proof and is unnumbered. In an ornate wood case with exotic hard wood veneers including burled walnut and ebony with ornate patterns of inlaid mother-of-pearl and Abalone. Oval veneer in center is missing. Brass fittings. Blue velvet fitted interior with blue satin lid liner. Includes a cleaning rod/oiler. Ammo compartment contains an Amethyst necklace. PROVENANCE: The Friedrich-Wilhelm Dauphin Collection, Germany. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% orig blue with normal wear and some light pitting around muzzle. 70% orig straw. Grips are lightly worn and darkened. Bore is worn with light pitting. Mechanics are fine. Mag has a few minor nicks on wood bottom. Wood box has some warping and separation of veneers, scattered chips and cracks on edges and corners, a few small inlays are missing.
