SUPERB RARE MODEL 1906 DUTCH CONTRACT LUGER.DWMLUGER22259MMMODERN; C&RCal. 9mm. One of the approximate 4,000 produced. Model 1906 DWM manufactured Lugers with 4" 9mm bbl and the unique RUST with arrow pointing upward safety position. SN 2225, which has, after detailed disassembly, all numbered parts are matching. Left side of frame next to chamber is crown over script "W", the proof for Queen Wilhemmina, and to the rear of that a 5-pointed star indicating the gun is an arsenal refurbish. According to Charles Kenyon, Jr., author of Lugers at Random, the Netherlands were one of the most faithful users of the Luger pistol and the Dutch government carried out a regular program of refurbishing their Luger pistols according to official records. "The fact that an example bears an ARSENAL refinish does not detract from its value to the collector." CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as arsenal refinished, with most all straw coloring remaining on levers, trigger and magazine release. Wood base nickel magazine is excellent and matching to pistol, but exhibits several small stress cracks in wooden base. Very slight finish loss at edges of muzzle and high points of frame. 2-pc checkered walnut grips are excellent and grip screws retain most of their high polished fire blue. A scarce and desirable Dutch Luger. 51034-7 TDW (2,000-2,500)
