EXCEPTIONAL U.S. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 1911 45 PISTOL.SPRINGFIELD191110561645MODERN; C&RCal. 45. Shipped August 1915 from Springfield Armory to Rock Island Arsenal. Slide marked on left "Springfield Army USA" with 3-line patent address and small Springfield Armory ordinance bomb on back left side. Right side of slide has Springfield Armory eagle and is marked "MODEL of 1911 U.S. ARMY". Left side of receiver marked "United States Property" with small Springfield ordinance bomb to rear of trigger. Right side of frame has "NO. 105616". 2-pc diamond pattern 11-groove checkered walnut grips. After detailed disassembly, internal parts are marked as follows: bbl marked "P" on left trunnion; recoil spring cap unmarked; bbl bushing marked with small "s" on underside; slide stop marked with small "s" on underside; safety is unmarked; main spring housing marked with small "s" on underside; grip safety long pattern is unmarked; hammer long pattern is also unmarked; trigger is marked with small "s" on the inside; magazine release is marked with small "s" on inside; firing pin stop is marked with small "s" on inside. All parts appear to be orig and authentic with the exception of the unmarked safety is a slightly different color but is unmarked. Magazine is proper Springfield Armory lanyard loop magazine with folded over base and slight brazed at top of rear. CONDITION: Very fine overall, with slight edge wear at muzzle and edges of sights. The ever-present disassembly drag mark is present, but not terribly. Bore and mechanics are bright and crisp. An exceptionally fine example of the Springfield 1911 with production from 1914 through 1916 with a total production of 25,760 pistols according to the Colt .45 Service Pistols Models of 1911 and 1911A1 by Charles W.
