SCARCE REMINGTON UMC WORLD WAR I 45 AUTOMATIC.REMINGTON UMC1911457445ACPMODERN; C&RCal. 45 ACP. One of only 15,000 produced, the Remington UMC has always been one of the most sought after by 45 collectors. Left side of frame has a bold Remington UMC marking in circle with patent dates and address on both sides. Frame is marked "United States Property" with a strong "EEC" government inspector's marking (Edward E. Chapman). Right side of slide marked "Model of 1911 U.S. Army Cal. 45". Numbered on frame "NO.4574". After detailed disassembly and inspection, very few faults were found. The only replacement part is a later Flannery- manufactured military bbl. Balance of parts are appropriate. PROVENANCE: Gerard Ruth Collection, ex Alex Chauffe SR. CONDITION: Much of the Remington brushed blue finish remains with evidence of period pitting on slide and very lightly on frame. Frame finish has worn silver on frontstraps and turned rather plum on backstrap. Finish is thinning on underside of frame and top and right side of slide. A very good example of the Remington UMC with nice lanyard loop period magazine. 51036-10 TDW (4,500-9,000)
