INTRIGUING NORTH VIETNAMESE THEATER MADE COPY OF 1911 PISTOL.VIET NAMCOPY OF U.S.A. 4523077745ACPMODERNCal. 45 ACP. North Vietnamese in-country or theater manufacturing attempt to reproduce a 1911 A1 type pistol. Made by brazing multiple pieces of sheet metal into forming a theoretical copy of a 1911, utilizing a captured World War II era U.S. made magazine. Hand guns like this are prized by collectors of in-country made weapons. Using a combination of different designs of Soviet, U.S. and Spanish, this firearm was derived from these platforms. A great Vietnam War collectible. PROVENANCE: Gerard Ruth Collection, ex Alex Chauffe SR. CONDITION: Overall dove grey, with areas of heavy patina, this in-country pistol was probably never finished at all. Most likely, left in the white for distribution to low level fighters. Magazine latch is missing and an aluminum plate with a screw has been adapted to the bottom to retain the magazine. 51036-13 TDW (2,000-3,000)
