SUPERB EXAMPLE OF A UNION SWITCH & SIGNAL COMPANY EXP NO 36 PRESENTATION GUN.UNION SWITCH SIGNAL1911A13645ACPMODERN; C&RCal. 45 auto. Almost spectacular Union Switch & Signal (US&S) EXP presentation pistol (1 of about 100). Finished in DuLite over sandblasting. The receivers of all EXP presentation guns usually had some sort of defect in them and were generally rejected military receivers, often because of stripped stock screw bushings. Approximately 100 EXP presentation guns were made. Some were high polished, buffed and blued; some were blued over sandblasting. The sandblasted guns, like this one, had sharp edges and were generally finished like military contract guns. CONDITION: US&S Company EXP NO 36 (EXP not visible, but under stock). Overall 97% orig finish, all correct, all orig. Bbl high standard, mirror bore, has been fired but not much. Crisp DuLite finish. Bright blued trigger, checkered hammer, thumb safety, and slide-stop. Bbl bushing has concentric rings. Excellent+ Keyes Fiber stocks. Escutcheon rings around screw. Slight. Slight scrapes on slide and gun overall, wear only on high points, all edges crisp and sharp. Significant takedown scratch. Risdon made contract magazine (proper). As a presentation gun, no proof marks were required, but slide is "P" proofed in two places; front of rear sight and off to the left, adding credence to the theory that these pistols used rejected military slides and receivers. The receiver is not proof marked, but the slide is. A superb example of a Union Switch & Signal presentation gun fired only a few times. 51074-2 KXK (8,000-14,000)
