UNION SWITCH AND SIGNAL 1911A1.UNION SWITCH SIGNAL1911 A1105129445 ACPMODERN; C&RCal. 45 auto. Interesting 1911A1 WWII U.S. pistol. Union Switch and Signal (US&S) made 55,000 1911A1s in WWII. They are the second rarest 1911, sometimes known as "the poor man's Singer". US&S primarily made railroad switching equipment, but got a contract to make 1911A1 pistols. US&S pistols were some of the highest quality 1911s. All had DuLite finish, all had high standard bbls. Early pistols had Keyes Fiber stocks without escutcheon rings, later pistols had the escutcheon rings. All had bright blued triggers and all had bbl bushings with concentric rings on the front surface. Good starter pistol for a new collector. CONDITION: Bbl, high standard, good bore, slight pitting; rifling visible. Slide stop grooved (which is wrong). Bbl bushing un-circled (which is wrong), hammer slightly different than normal (could be wrong). Trigger blued bright. Mainstring housing checkered. Stocks Keyes Fiber Company with escutcheon rings. Finish DuLite orig finish, thinning all over, mostly gone on front grip strap and grip safety. Clear inspector mark "RCD". Magazine two-tone, good+ condition. Moderate pitting on slide left front.
