EXCEPTIONAL COLT MODEL 1911 U S ARMY SERIAL NUMBER 169433 ALL ORIGINAL PISTOL.COLT1911 MFG16943345ACPMODERN; C&RCal. 45. All parts proper and orig. Vertical "P H" marked bbl. Dbl diamond checkered stocks, wide spur hammer, narrow front sight, standard "COLT PATENT" markings, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" markings, "RAMPANT COLT" at rear of slide, "GHS" (Gilbert H. Stewart) inspectors cartouche. Slide marked "MODEL OF U S ARMY". All proper and correct. SN 169433. Blue finish,walnut stocks. Manufactured in the early part of 1917, this is a very nice example of an early WWI U.S. Army contract Model 1911 pistol as produced by Colt. The pistol still retains the WWI military blue finish and has the serif letter markings on the slide and frame. The left side of the slide has "PATENTED APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902" over "DEC.19, 1905. FEB.14, 1911 . AUG.19, 1913" followed by "COLT'S PT. FA MFG. CO." over "HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A", with the "RAMPANT COLT" behind the serrations. "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY" is marked on the right side of the slide with the left side of the frame marked"UNITED STATES PROPERTY" along with the circled "GHS" inspector cartouche of Gilbert H. Stewart, the US Ordnance Inspector above the magazine release. It has the correct blue Colt WWI bbl marked with vertical small "P" and "H" proofs at the chamber, the WWI checkered thumb safety, long smooth trigger, checkered slide stop, wide spur hammer, and flat mainspring housing. Accompanying Colt Factory letter dated March 3, 2014. CONDITION: Overall 97% orig finish. Dirty, but mirror bore. Right walnut stock moderately worn on bottom; left stock mostly crisp. Two-tone magazine excellent. Moderate thinning of front grip straps. A very attractive, all correct and original 1911 "GHS" inspected pistol. Orig stock screws in excellent condition, only the slightest buggering. Mag catch lock crisp. Overall, a very attractive 1917 made, all original, Model 1911 pistol. 51033-52 KXK (4,000-9,000)
