FANTASTIC CORRECT ORIGINAL SPRINGFIELD 1903-A1 USMC SNIPER RIFLE W/CARRIER.SPRINGFIELD03-A1150638730-06MODERN; C&RCal. 30-06. Tremendous offering from an advanced U.S. Rifle collector. Unquestionably original and correct U.S.M.C. 1903-A1 sniper rifle. This rifle has it all. "J. UNERTL USMC-SNIPER 2715" marked scope including end caps with original mounting rings and blocks, excellent original scope carrier, original eagle marked 1942 dated leather sling, and even the original muzzle cover. Heavy checkered buttplate. Barrel marked "S.A." with flaming bomb proof amd dated "4-38". Ghost of a serial number barely discernible on underside of bolt. "C" type stock marked with sans serif "P" at pistol grip and "H" at heel of stock just forward of buttplate. Also a star stamped into the wood just behind the rear sling swivel. There is a brass identification tag "40" affixed to the forward sling swivel. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent with over 97% orig dull blue arsenal refinish on rifle parts with nearly all of a lustrous blue finish remaining on the Unertl scope. Buttplate has more of a greenish-gray tinge to the finish as does the trigger. Stock has only a few light handling marks and the action block screws show some evidence of slight deterioration from long ago with a bit of staining to the wood at the forward screw. Leather sling is stiff and starting to crack in a couple of places when bent but still strong, serviceable and attractive. Carrier is in excellent condition. Bore is excellent, shiny and bright.
